Britain’s unelected legislators in the House of so-called Lords have been showing their contempt for democracy with new force.
The legislators-for-life are filibustering the assisted dying bill that has been passed by the House of Commons in a disgraceful attempt to nullify the democratic process.
These “lords” have put forward many amendments to the bill in order to slow its passage. They have then debated them very slowly in an attempt to frustrate the democratic will.
The clerical legislators, the bishops, seem particularly happy to be a part of this. They use their undemocratic status as legislators to impose their religious conviction that human life belongs to their god and that no matter how miserable life may have become it must be endured until the end.
