Henry and William Windsor are to get a £1.5m increase in their pay, bringing the total for the two to £5m. This is a 40 per cent increase.
The two men are grandsons of Britain’s hereditary head of state and the sons of Charlie Windsor. Their pay is not a salary for legitimate employment but a reward for being the grandsons of a feudal head of state.
The payments will be made from the income of the Duchy of Cornwall. This is a portfolio of public assets from which Charlie Windsor is given the profits.
It is usual in the UK for monarchists to pretend that the Duchy is the property of the Windsor clan in order to hide from the British people the cost to them of monarchy.
