BBC True to Nature
The revelation that the BBC hid allegations that Jimmy Saville sexually abused children comes as no surprise to opponents of the state broadcaster.
The BBC has for long been quick to draw attention to dubious behaviour by business and government, while its journalists have kept quiet about its own outrageous actions. These include harassing and attempting to scare citizens who have not bought a licence to watch TV.
One BBC tactic is write to advise citizens who are not licenced to watch TV of their rights if they are summoned to court. It does this even though it knows it has no knowledge that the law is being broken or evidence to support legal proceedings. The letters are simply intended to intimidate. But the exposure of such behaviour is off-limited to Corporation journalists.
