BBC Still Loyal to Hereditary Ruler

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The BBC has apologised to queen Windsor after one of its journalists disclosed a conversation with the super-rich feudal head of state. Reporter Frank Gardner had revealed that Windsor, who supposedly does not interfere with government, had expressed strong opinions on delays in the deportation of Abu Hamaz al-Masri.

The BBC is usually a strong supporter of hereditary privilege and keen to encourage support for it. It benefits itself from the privileges of its “royal charter”, which allows it to control citizens’ access to all television broadcasts. The Windsor family is protected from public scrutiny by a ban on discussion in parliament and exemption from freedom of information laws.
