Spending on Monarchy Questioned

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The waste of the people’s money on queens and kings during a time of austerity for many of those paying the bills is being questioned more.

The so-called king of Spain is facing demands that he slash his spending and publish details of what he is spending taxpayers’ money on.

Belgium’s “king” has decided to spend some of his own money on his own upkeep following criticism of a 3 per cent increase in his official budget. However, as most monarchs rely on the taxpayers for all their income, it’s likely that his “own money” came from the people in the first place.

The “queen” of the United Kingdom has frozen the salaries of her servants, put off repairs to the numerous homes the people provide her with and has withdrawn police protection from two of her family members to reduce the burden she puts on the people.
