Monarch Persona Non Grata

The town of Berga in Spain has set an example of self-respecting citizenship by declaring the “King of Spain” persona non grata.

The town’s council passed the motion following unusually severe criticism of the feudal relic for going on an expensive holiday paid for by a Syrian business person with ties to the Saudi Arabia monarchy after pretending that his country’s economic problems were keeping him awake at night.

In Britain a tradition of deference combined with systematic discrimination against republicans has made criticism of the high-living Windsor clan highly unusual.
